- 1 pie crust
- 4–5 apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
- 100g granulated sugar
- 50g brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 50g butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
- Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and slicing them.
- In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
- Roll out the pie crust in a pie dish, leaving some excess dough for folding.
- Fill the crust with the apple mixture, distributing evenly.
- Dot the apples with pieces of butter.
- Cover the tart with a second dough layer or create a lattice with the remaining dough.
- Brush the top with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until the crust is golden and apples are tender.
- Let it cool before serving.
