Description

These oven-baked churro bites are fluffy on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside, combining the joy of traditional churros with healthier ingredients.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • Additional cinnamon and coconut sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the whole wheat flour, coconut sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In a saucepan, combine the water, coconut oil, and vanilla extract, bringing it to a boil while mixing well.
  4. Once boiling, add the dry mixture and stir vigorously until a homogeneous dough forms.
  5. Remove from heat and let the dough cool for a few minutes.
  6. Add the egg to the dough and mix until smooth and creamy.
  7. Transfer the dough to a piping bag and form small bites on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them adequately.
  8. Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon and coconut sugar for a sweet touch.
  9. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden and slightly crispy on the outside.
  10. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
