Description

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of pain de mie
  • 4 slices of jambon
  • 4 slices of cheese (like gruyère or emmental)
  • 2 tablespoons of beurre
  • 1/4 cup of lait
  • 2 œufs
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F).
  2. Butter one slice of pain de mie on one side and place it buttered side down in a baking dish.
  3. Add a slice of jambon and a slice of cheese on top of the bread.
  4. Cover with another slice of pain de mie, buttered on the top.
  5. In a bowl, whisk the eggs with a bit of lait, salt, and pepper.
  6. Pour the egg mixture over the croque monsieur.
  7. Bake for about 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden.
  8. Serve hot.
