Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt (for the filling)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for the glaze)
  • 24 tbsp milk (for the glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the milk, sugar, and yeast, then let sit for 5 minutes to activate the yeast.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Create a well in the center.
  3. Add the milk mixture, beaten egg, and melted butter into the well.
  4. Knead the dough until smooth.
  5. Cover dough and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  7. In a bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt for the filling.
  8. Spread melted butter on dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over it.
  9. Roll the dough tightly and cut into uniform pieces.
  10. Place pieces in a greased dish, cover, and allow to rise for another 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  12. Bake the brioche for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  13. Meanwhile, mix powdered sugar and milk for the glaze.
  14. Once the brioche is done, drizzle glaze over while still warm.

Store at room temperature in plastic wrap or an airtight bag for best quality within 2-3 days.
