- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt (for the filling)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for the glaze)
- 2–4 tbsp milk (for the glaze)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the milk, sugar, and yeast, then let sit for 5 minutes to activate the yeast.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Create a well in the center.
- Add the milk mixture, beaten egg, and melted butter into the well.
- Knead the dough until smooth.
- Cover dough and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- In a bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt for the filling.
- Spread melted butter on dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over it.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut into uniform pieces.
- Place pieces in a greased dish, cover, and allow to rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the brioche for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Meanwhile, mix powdered sugar and milk for the glaze.
- Once the brioche is done, drizzle glaze over while still warm.
Notes
Store at room temperature in plastic wrap or an airtight bag for best quality within 2-3 days.
